Richard Klein
Stockholm Research InstituteRichard Klein has over 30 years of experience in climate change adaptation, working in research, scientific assessment and policy advice. His work focuses on the role of adaptation in global climate policy, how it can be integrated with other policy priorities, and the institutional challenges that come with it. He co-founded Adaptation Without Borders, a partnership aimed at promoting systemic resilience to cross-border climate impacts.
Richard set up and edited the journal Climate and Development and has been involved with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change since 1994. He was co-director and chief scientist at the Nordic Centre of Excellence for Strategic Adaptation Research and the first director of science and innovation at the Global Center on Adaptation. He also co-chaired the Science Committee of the World Adaptation Science Programme. His contributions to adaptation research and outreach have been recognised with the Burtoni Award.
