Interactions between carbon pricing, competitiveness and international cooperation – How to level the playing field

10:00 – 11:30 Uhr

This event will explore whether and how the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and similar instruments promote the uptake of mitigation solutions in global energy-intensive industries. The discussion will focus on the potential of CBAM in preventing carbon leakage within the EU and aligning global efforts through cooperative frameworks. We will discuss how to advance the development and implementation of carbon pricing systems globally, with the aim of fostering international cooperation to move closer to a level playing field. The transition to a net-zero economy requires the global competitiveness of companies for successfully rolling out low- and zero-emission products and manufacturing processes.
