Lipika Sharma

UN Women

Lipika Sharma is an accomplished Indian lawyer with 24 years of experience in legal writing, analysis, litigation, teaching, training, consulting, and project management combined with PhD in Climate Change law. She contributes to thought and practice in legal and humanitarian aspects of disaster, climate change and gender Justice. She is the only Indian-Expert member in the UN Women's Global Register of Experts for Women's Resilience to Disasters (WRD) Knowledge Hub.
She has advised and published with UN Women, UNDRR, UNDP, and other UN bodies, IFRC, and international consultancies on climate change and disaster, women empowerment, gender inclusion and SDGs, etc. Additionally, she holds the G100 India Chair for SDGs and Chief Legal Officer, ElJoJoFe e.V. Germany.
She practices law at the Supreme Court of India and has acted as a Dean and Professor at prestigious private universities in India.
She is an acclaimed trainer on the Prevention of sexual harassment of women in the workplace, a legal mandate in India. Furthermore, as the founding director and CEO of VidAikyam Foundation, India, she spearheads efforts for gender justice, women empowerment, climate change and disaster management. She was Managing Editor- Legal, (Asia-Pacific -APEC region) for Wolters Kluwer's Australia, a leading legal publisher and Legal Consultant with the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.
Acknowledged for her contributions, she has received awards from the United Nations Global Compact as Best Women Educator in Innovative Law Teaching, Indo Asian Teaching Excellence Award in Climate Change and Environmental Law, Exceptional Women of Excellence, by the Women Economic Forum, India’s Most Trusted Titans Award for excellence in leadership & innovation to mention a few.
