Driving Industrial Decarbonization: Harmonizing Carbon Accounting Standards and Definitions for Green Supply Chains
This event unites policymakers, industry leaders, and standards organizations to explore the role of Product Carbon Footprints (PCF), green definitions, and consistent GHG emissions accounting in decarbonizing global supply chains. Insights from German industry leaders and the Industrial Deep Decarbonization Initiative (IDDI) will highlight the challenges and pathways to harmonized standards, particularly for heavy industries like steel and cement. This collaboration aims to enhance transparency, support green public procurement, and drive progress toward the Paris Agreement.
Objectives:
• Creating an enabling environment for industry decarbonization on national and international level.
• Address the potential and challenges of aligning carbon accounting methodologies and standards internationally and across sectors.
• Highlight recent advancements in GHG standards harmonization for emissions-intensive industries with examples from the industry.
• Discuss pathways to a consistent global approach to GHG emissions accounting and how international collaboration could support this work.
